From ‘Moon’ to ‘Mars’, Mari Simmulson was a well known designer for Gustavsberg in 1945 and later in 1949 for Upsala-Ekeby until 1972.

Her story begins in 1911 as daughter to Estonian parents in St. Petersburg. She was a student of art in the 1930s and later moved to Germany. When WWII began she fled Munich on a fishing boat to Sweden forced to leave family and friends behind. Her designs were imagined in prolific range with inspired, playful, and inventive techniques.
